With the WNBA All-Star Weekend inching closer and closer to being in full swing, the league’s most popular set of streamers is making their return to the big stage. Courtney Williams and Natisha Hiedeman’s Twitch channel, the StudBudz, is back and actively in their 72-hour All-Star Weekend livestream.

Last year, the WNBA duo began a tradition of streaming during the weekend after Williams was a participant during the special span of days. The two used to both be on the Minnesota Lynx, but their connection has not faltered despite Hiedeman’s move across the country to join the Seattle Storm this season.

With Williams in both the Shooting Stars and All-Star Game and Hiedeman in the 3-Point Contest, StudBudz fans will be swimming in around-the-clock content from the weekend.

Who are the StudBudz?

The StudBudz refers to the duo that is Courtney Williams and Natisha Hiedeman, who both used to be on the Connecticut Sun and, more recently, the Minnesota Lynx.

Williams and Hiedeman first met each other in Connecticut in 2019. As Williams headed into her third season with the Sun, Hiedeman was drafted No. 18 overall by the Lynx in 2019 and traded to the Sun during the draft. The two developed a friendship after Williams took Hiedeman out to celebrate her 25th birthday, according to ESPN.

In 2024, the duo joined each other again after the Lynx traded for both of them on consecutive days that January. The two players began their streaming career and made a name for themselves with their matching neon-dyed hair and back-and-forth commentary. For the last two years, they performed a 72-hour live stream on their Twitch channel. This year, both Williams (Shooting Stars and All-Star Game) and Hiedeman (3-Point Contest) are participating in All-Star Weekend events.

What do the StudBudz do?

Along with playing for the Lynx and Storm in the WNBA, the dynamic duo also live streams together on Twitch. Their most common streaming category on the site is “Just Chatting.”

Each WNBA All-Star Weekend, Studbudz has a 72-hour stream on the platform that encompasses the entirety of the special span of days. As of July 23, the two have garnered over 93,000 followers on their Twitch channel.

Why are they called the StudBudz?

Both Williams and Hiedeman called themselves the StudBudz to combine two words. The term “stud,” is used to describe Black, masculine, and queer women, according to ESPN.

The “Budz” part of their channel name is short for buddies.

When did StudBudz start?

The StudBudz began their streaming side gig during the 2025 WNBA season. 

The duo’s Twitch channel has amassed over 50,000 followers that season, and has since gained over 40,000 more. During streams, Williams and Hiedeman often riff off of one another, and they host various guests from the Lynx and from around the league.
