For the first time since 1943 — in the midst of World War II — the Army-Navy Game will take place on the campus of the United States Military Academy in West Point, N.Y. And Rece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit and the rest of the “College GameDay” crew will be there to cover the occasion.
This game, usually held at neutral sites, has been forced to the campus of the Black Knights due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but that won’t take away from the history and tradition of one of the great rivalries in college football history — ranked No. 3 all-time by Sporting News.
Neither team will be ranked — the first time all season that neither opponent is among the top 25 all season — but expect a hard-fought game between Army (7-2) and Navy (3-6).
With that, here’s everything you need to know about “College GameDay” as it visits West Point, N.Y:
Where is ‘College GameDay’ location for Week 15?
- Location: West Point, N.Y.
- Matchup: Navy at Army
This week’s “GameDay” will be on the campus of the United States Military Academy in West Point, N.Y. It is only the second time in “GameDay” history that the crew will head to Army’s campus: The first time came in 2003, when South Florida traveled to Army and secured a 28-0 victory over the Black Knights. In all, it will be Army’s 10th appearance on the show; the Black Knights are 3-6 in its nine previous meetings (including 0-1 on its home field). This is Army’s eighth appearance on the show; it is 3-4 all-time, including 0-2 as the road team. These teams are 3-3 against each other when featured on “GameDay.”
‘College GameDay’ schedule on ESPN
- TV channel: ESPN
- Start time: 9 a.m. ET
The “College GameDay” crew of Davis, Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and David Pollack will preview Week 15’s college football action live from West Point, N.Y. Corso, whose health is at greater risk should he contract COVID-19, has to this point set up a remote office in his home.
The game will be broadcast on CBS, with kickoff set for 3 p.m. ET.
“GameDay” has several options for its Week 15 site. The most obvious is the meeting between Michigan and No. 3 Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio. While “The Game” is arguably college football’s greatest rivalry, a matchup between a 2-4 Wolverines team and the undefeated Buckeyes might not be the most enticing. Other options that should be more closely contested include: No. 7 Cincinnati at No. 22 Tulsa in Tulsa, Okla.; North Carolina at No. 9 Miami in Miami Gardens, Fla.; No. 18 Wisconsin at No. 24 Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa; No. 17 USC at UCLA in the Rose Bowl; and No. 23 Washington at No. 21 Oregon in Eugene, Ore.
