HBO Max’s Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin ensemble cast continues to expand.
HBO announced that Sharon Leal, Elena Goode, and Lea Salonga have been added as full cast members, while Zakiya Young and Carly Pope have been placed in recurring roles. They join the previously announced Chandler Kinney, Maia Reficco, Bailee Madison, Zaria, Malia Pyles, Alex Aiono, Mallory Bechtel, Carson Rowland, Jordan Gonzalez, Ben Cook, Elisa Kacavas, Benton Greene, and Eric Johnson in the series.
Leal (Dreamgirls) will play Sidney, a real estate agent and single mother of Tabby (Kinney). Meanwhile, Goode (Straight Outta Compton) is a nurse at Millwood General that is in a relationship with Noa (Reficco). Salonga (Mulan) plays the mother of Minnie (Pyles) that is said to be overbearing, and Young (Disgraced) is Corey, a single mother that works as a paralegal despite posing as a lawyer. Finally, Pope will portray the mother of Imogen (Madison) that has a dark past.
“Twenty years ago, a series of tragic events almost ripped the blue-collar town of Millwood apart,” reads the official synopsis. “Now, in the present day, a group of disparate teen girls — a brand-new set of Little Liars — find themselves tormented by an unknown Assailant and made to pay for the secret sin their parents committed two decades ago…as well as their own. In the dark, coming-of-age, horror-tinged drama Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, we find ourselves miles away from Rosewood, but within the existing Pretty Little Liars universe — in a brand-new town, with a new generation of Little Liars.”
Rowland will play chip in the series, who, like Tabby (Kinney) is a major film buff, “and he’s not-so-secretly crushing on her.” Gonzalez will play Ash, “a handsome transgender student at Millwood high and romantic interest to Minnie (Pyles).”
Cook will portray Henry, “an arrogant, yet deeply talented ballerino at Millwood High and partner to Faran (Zaria),” on and off stage. Kacavas is Greg, Karen’s (Bechtel) “picture-perfect boyfriend by day. By night, they share a secretly tumultuous relationship echoing that of Karen’s own parents.” Finally, Greene will recur as Zeke, Faran’s adoring father. “Zeke struggles to navigate the hardscrabble world of the steel mill and the frilly, feminine world of ballet that this daughter inhabits.”
Based upon the bestselling series of books by Sara Shepard, the Pretty Little Liars reboot is executive produced and written by Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring.
