Moreover, Reinaldo Marcus Green is directing the special and serves as the writer alongside Bernthal.
A dog’s death teased in new set video of The Punisher special
The new video from the set of Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher special presentation has led fans to think that there will be a scene showing a dog’s death.
In the clip posted by user @elderordonez1 on Instagram, fans can spot a few gangsters walking on a sidewalk while holding a real dog. It was later swapped for a fake one, which was held by Bernthal’s character Frank Castle, AKA the Punisher.
In the caption, the user mentioned, “The Punisher star Jon Bernthal was spotted filming in Queens, New York, today. Interestingly, there’s no actual subway station on 117th Street between Myrtle Avenue and Hillside Avenue — but for the movie, they created two, one on each side. So cool!”
Although no context regarding the scene has been provided, fans think that the special might have a John Wick-like dark scene. While some questioned what the scene is about, others expressed their disappointment over the special, including a dog’s death.
The Punisher special presentation is expected to air in 2026 along with Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. While speaking about the special’s tone with The Hollywood Reporter in March 2025, Bernthal said, “It’s going to be dark; Frank has no interest in breaking out the darkness. It’s not going to be easy. It will not be Punisher-lite, I promise you that. I think it’s the version that this character deserves.”
