Burial Chambers are small procedurally generated dungeons that can be found and explored in Valheim. This section of IGN’s guide will teach you how to find Burial Chambers in Valheim.

How to Find Burial Chambers

Once you feel comfortable venturing out and exploring, you’ll quickly stumble into the Black Forest. This biome contains more powerful Greydwarf enemies and skeletons.

It is also the location of the various Burial Chambers scattered around the world. They are presented in the overworld as small cave-like dwellings made out of rocks.

These procedurally generated claustrophobic mazes house dangerous enemies such as Skeletons and Ghosts, so make sure you come prepared with good weapons and gear and are well-fed.

Upon entering, you’ll always be faced with three paths, generally hidden behind wooden doors. The paths behind each doors vary each time, however. Make sure to have a torch equipped, as the Burial Chambers are pitch-black, save for a few yellow mushrooms scattered about that give off a subtle glow.

As you explore the narrow corridors, you’ll find many strong enemies including skeletons and ghosts. Try luring them into a room that gives you more room for combat if you feel trapped. You can also close doors if you’re overrun, as they cannot pass through the doors or open them up once closed.

Some rooms contain chests that can be looted. These generally contain coins, rubies, amber, feathers, and more.

If you’re lucky, you’ll find a room containing Surtling Cores. These rare items are required for crafting a Smelter and Charcoal Kiln, as well as portals for transportation.

You may also stumble across a rune that reveals the location of Valheim’s second boss, The Elder.

Once you’ve completed a Burial Chamber, it will no longer spawn loot or enemies.
