Aliens: Fireteam Elite Release Date Revealed for Late Summer

Aliens: Fireteam Elite is one of the bigger tentpoles in the recent wave of cooperative wave-based shooters and it’s just about to be one of the first to actually come out. Cold Iron Studios revealed that the Aliens: Fireteam Elite release date will be August 24, a more specific date that was previously just “summer.” The game will come to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC and have two versions: a standard $39.99 one and a deluxe $69.99 one.

The standard edition is self-explanatory as its just the game. However, the deluxe edition obviously comes with a few more goodies to justify its higher price tag, including the Endeavor Pass and Endeavor Veteran Pack. The Endeavor Pass is four separate cosmetic DLC packs that will drop alongside patches for the game. The Endeavor Veteran Pack will have “over 20 cosmetic items” that run the gamut from armor kit skins, emotes, decals, and weapon skins. Both packs will also be available for purchase separately. Despite being $30 more expensive, it appears that the deluxe edition doesn’t include anything more than some cosmetic items.

Pre-ordering either bundle on any platform unlocks the Hardened Marine Pack, a bundle that contains a Bandana head accessory, Red Digital Camo weapon colors, three weapon decals, and the “Chestburster” joke emote. There’s no word on this will be available for those who don’t pre-order, but it will likely be attainable in one way or another down the line.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite supports Smart Delivery on Xbox and while the PS4 version isn’t currently on the PlayStation Store, the physical box says “PS5 upgrade available” on the front. The game’s three-player co-op will also be cross-generational, but only within console families, meaning cross-play isn’t possible across console lines.

The game takes place 23 years after the Alien trilogy and promises a unique experience based on its many variables. It will have five different classes — Gunner, Demolisher, Technician, Doc, and Recon — with their own abilities and perks. An “innovative” Perk Board will let players further modify their abilities. There are over 30 weapons with over 70 mods and attachments and 20 different enemy types to shoot those weapons at. It has four campaign missions, too, and a Challenge Card system that lets users tweak each of them.
